A 34-year-old man is in custody and facing charges after he refused to stop for Police earlier this morning.

At approximately 4:30 a.m., August 29, 2019, Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop after observing an equipment violation on a vehicle in the area of 37th Street West and Avenue G North. Upon activation of the emergency equipment, the vehicle refused to stop. The Air Support Unit was able to monitor the vehicle and observed it reach speeds of 150 km/hr on Idylwyld Drive. Officers successfully deployed stop sticks at 31st Street and Idylwyld Drive, and the driver abandoned the vehicle nearby. The driver fled on foot but was apprehended in the 200 block of 28th Street West.

The 34-year-old Saskatoon man is charged with Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Fail to Stop, and Breach of Recognizance. He was also arrested on outstanding warrants.
