Evade Police/Arrest - 46th St. E & Northridge Dr.

One man was arrested early this morning after refusing to stop for Police.

At approximately 1:10 a.m., September 3, 2019, a Canine Unit officer observed a stolen silver Ford Escape travelling in the area of 39th Street and Ontario Avenue. Police had observed this vehicle earlier in the night, but the suspect driver, who was identified at that time, evaded officers. Police attempted to conduct a second traffic stop, but the driver of the vehicle again, refused to stop and began to drive erratically. The Air Support Unit (ASU) located the suspect vehicle and provided ground units with updates. A tire deflation device was deployed and the suspect vehicle struck that, as well as a fence, before coming to rest in a ditch near 46th Street East and Northridge Drive. The driver exited the vehicle and fled west across Idylwyld Drive where he attempted to hide in tall grass. He was located with the help of a Police Service Dog (PSD) and taken into custody without further incident. Medavie Health Services attended and treated the man on scene for minor injuries due to the canine contact.

A 29 year old man from Lloydminster, AB is charged with Evade Police, Dangerous Driving, Mischief, Carrying a Concealed Weapon and Breach of Probation.
