A Police Officer with the SPS Bike Unit sustained minor injuries as a result of a collision with a pick-up truck earlier this morning.

On September 6, 2019, at 8:10 a.m., a member of the SPS Bike Unit was patrolling downtown. She was riding eastbound in the 100 block of 22nd Street East in the curbside lane when a truck driving behind the officer attempted to pass and struck the officer with the truck mirror.

The 38 year old female officer sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital.

The 25 year old female driver of the truck has been charged under the Traffic Safety Act with Driving Without Due Care and Attention.
