Drug Unit Investigation Results In Multiple Arrests - 400 Block Of Cockburn Cres.

Multiple people have been arrested as a result of a drug investigation by the Saskatoon Police Service Drug Unit.

On September 26, 2019, members of the Drug Unit observed activity consistent with drug dealing at a residence in the 400 block of Cockburn Crescent, including a suspected drug transaction between an occupant of the residence and the driver of black Ford Taurus. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle as it left the address, however as the officer approached the vehicle, the driver fled at a high rate of speed striking the officer’s hand with the vehicle.

A short time later another police officer observed the vehicle and a traffic stop was successfully done on 11th Street by Highway 11. A 24 year old male was taken into custody without further incident. A search of his vehicle resulted in the seizure of bear spray, a knife and 0.5 grams of crack cocaine. The male is now facing charges including Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public Peace and Failing to Stop for Police. The officer did not sustain any serious injuries.

On September 26, 2019, a search warrant was obtained for the residence in the 400 block of Cockburn Crescent. The search warrant was executed with the assistance of the Tactical Support Unit, Public Safety Unit, K9 Unit and Patrol. Five males, aged 23, 24, 25, 27 and 32, and one female, aged 24 were arrested out of the residence without incident. In total, 66.7 grams of crack cocaine, 59.7 grams of cocaine, and $5765 worth of Canadian Currency was seized from the residence.

All six individuals are facing charges that include Trafficking in a Controlled Substance and Possession of Proceeds of Crime. They are all expected to appear in court the morning of Friday, September 27, 2019. Court information # 991106177.
