A 30 year old Regina man, who was wanted by Regina Police, is facing a number of charges following an evade Police incident in Saskatoon overnight.
At approximately 1:00 a.m., December 20, 2019, Patrol Officers spotted a suspicious vehicle in the area of 19th Street West and Avenue S South. They activated their emergency equipment and conducted a traffic stop in the 300 block of Avenue R South. The black Chevrolet Impala initially stopped but then fled the scene and collided with a fence in the 1600 block of Avenue P South. The 30 year old man and a woman ran from the scene on foot. Members of the Air Support Unit were able to spot the suspect as he fled to the riverbank on Spadina Crescent and directed Patrol officers and the Canine Unit to the area where the man was arrested. A machete was located under the front seat of the Impala.
The man is now facing charges of Evade Police, Dangerous Driving, Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public Peace and Mischief Under $5000. The woman was released without charges.
