Two male teens, ages 15 and 16, are facing a number of charges following an armed robbery in which a man was stabbed.
At approximately 8:30 a.m., December 22, 2019 Police received a report of a robbery in progress at a convenience store in the 3300 block of Fairlight Drive. Upon arrival, they located a 46 year old male employee suffering from injuries. He reported that three males had entered the store, demanded cash and began assaulting him. He was stabbed by one of the males, who was armed with a knife. Additional officers in the area were quickly able to locate two of the three suspects on foot. One male was brought into custody immediately. The other attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended. A review of the in-store surveillance showed the suspects, at least two of whom were armed with knives, attempting to stab the male staff member repeatedly. Officers believe the heavy coat he was wearing protected him from being injured more severely. He was transported to hospital by Medavie Health Services for treatment for non life-threatening injuries.
The two in custody are facing charges including; robbery, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace and breach of probation.
Police are still searching for the third suspect. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Saskatoon Police Service at 306-975-8300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
