Three males, ages 16 and 17 are in custody following two incidents on December 22, 2019.
At approximately 12:45 p.m. Police received a report of an attempted street robbery in the 100 block of Central Avenue. Two men reported being approached by three unknown unknown male teens, one of whom was armed with a knife. They demanded cigarettes before fleeing on foot. The two men were not injured. Approximately half an hour later three teen males entered a business in the 800 block of Central Avenue and began filling a backpack with alcohol. They were confronted by a 56 year old man who attempted to stop them and was threatened with a firearm. He gave chase as the suspects fled however when he caught up to them in the 100 block of 111th Street West they began assaulting him. Officers responding to the first call regarding the street robbery arrived on scene and located the suspects inside a nearby apartment where they also found a replica handgun and the stolen alcohol.
The 56 year old man was transported to hospital by Medavie Health Services with non life-threatening injuries.
The two 17 year olds and the 16 year old are facing charges of robbery, robbery with a firearm, assault and breach of probation. The Targeted Enforcement Section continues to investigate and more charges are pending.
