One man has been arrested for numerous drug and weapons charges, after an impaired driving call Thursday evening.
At approximately 5:30 p.m. on September 23rd, 2021, Saskatoon Police were called to the 100 block of 21st Street East, in regards to an impaired driver complaint. Police found a lone male occupant in the driver’s seat of a vehicle, displaying signs of drug impairment. Officers observed a collapsible baton in on the front passenger seat. The 25-year-old driver was arrested and a subsequent search revealed him to be in possession of cocaine, as well as various prescription drugs. The 25-year-old man also appeared to be suffering from the effects of an overdose and was transported to hospital by Medavie Health Services for treatment and later released into Police custody.
A further search of the vehicle located a total of 38.13 grams of Cocaine, 55.77 grams of Methamphetamine, 131 pills of Hydromorphone, 14 pills of Oxycodone and a sawed-off shotgun which had the serial number removed.
The 25-year-old faces drug-related charges of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine, Methamphetamine, Hydromorphone and Oxycodone.
He also faces the following charges:
- Possession of a Dangerous Weapon (x2)
- Careless Use of a Firearm
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Unauthorized Possession in Motor Vehicle
- Possession of Weapon Obtained by Commission of Offence
- Tampering with Serial Number
- Prohibited Possession of Firearm
- Possession of Proceeds of Crime
- Breach of Court Orders
