Two men are in custody, facing weapons charges, after police executed a search warrant yesterday afternoon.
At approximately 2 p.m., on October 7th, 2021, the Saskatoon Police Service received a report of a person wanted on a warrant in the 1100 Block of Avenue L North. Upon arrival, officers learned a firearm may be present inside the residence and requested a search warrant.
The Tactical Support Unit assisted the SPS Guns & Gangs Unit in executing the search warrant. Two men were arrested; one when he exited the residence, and the other was found hiding in the attic of the residence.
A 30-year-old man was found to be in possession of bear spray and two knives, one which was concealed in the waist band of his pants. He faces charges of Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public (x3) and Carrying a Concealed Weapon.
A 28-year-old man was found to in possession of brass knuckles and was on a Canada Wide Warrant for Breach of Statutory Release. He was charged with Possession of a Prohibited Weapon and Possession of a Weapon While Prohibited.
The SPS Gangs and Guns Unit continues to investigate and further charges could be laid.

There is currently a police presence in the area of Avenue L North and Avenue K North, near 33rd Street West.
Patrol Officers and the Tactical Support Unit are investigating a report of a weapon, in a residence in the 1100 block of Avenue L North.
Currently the 1100 block of Avenue L North is closed to the public, including back alleyways. The public is advised to avoid the area, or follow Police direction.
