One man is in custody following an investigation into sexual exploitation.
In December of 2019, a report was made to the Saskatoon Police Service regarding allegations of historical sexual assault. One of the complaints involved a woman who was 16 years old at the time of the offense.
As a result of an investigation, by members of the SPS Sex Crime Unit, a 35-year-old man was arrested. The victim and the accused were known to each other, through their affiliation with a Saskatoon faith based organization.
The 35-year-old man is charged with two counts of sexual exploitation, while being in a position of trust or authority. He appeared in Saskatoon Provincial Court on November 17th, 2021. (Court info number: 991179785)
Sexual Abuse and Exploitation occurs when a child has been or is likely to be exposed to harmful interaction for a sexual purpose by a parent, caretaker, or any person in a position of trust or authority over the young person.
