The Saskatoon Police Service Air Support Unit, Canine Unit and Patrol officers combined to arrest three people connected to the robbery of a cab.
On March 23rd, 2022, at approximately 4:30 a.m., police received a report from a cab driver indicating a robbery had occurred near Avenue M North and 22nd Street West. The driver stated that six people had been picked up, had robbed him, and stole his vehicle.
ASU was able to locate and track the vehicle, which eventually stopped in the 3100 block of Laurier Drive. Multiple occupants fled on foot, leaving only the driver inside the vehicle. The driver fled the scene and was tracked by ASU to the 500 block of Hampton Circle. The driver was then tracked by the SPS Canine Unit and arrested in a backyard.
Officers were then directed by ASU to locate and arrest the other occupants. They were found and taken into custody walking through a park, near Maxwell Crescent.
A 16-year-old male has been charged with Robbery, Dangerous Driving, Evading Police, and Impersonation.
A 14-year-old female has been charged with Obstruction of a Police Officer and Breach of Conditions.
A 19-year-old male is charged with Possession of Cocaine.
