Update: Heavy Police Presence - 300 Block Ave H South

One man is in custody after the Saskatoon Police Service was called for the report of a weapon early Wednesday morning.

On April 6th, 2022, at around 3:45 a.m., officers were called to the 300 block of Avenue H South. The caller reported a 34-year-old man in the area with a knife. The 34-year-old and the caller are known to each other. Upon arrival police observed a man with a machete at the back door of the residence, who moved inside shortly after. Officers found the man had conditions to not possess a knife and it was believed that a firearm may also have been inside the home. The Tactical Support Unit was called in to assist with a warrant for his arrest.

The 34-year-old man was safely taken into custody, just before 9 a.m. Upon further investigation by the Saskatoon Police Service Guns and Gangs Unit, ammunition, a machete and a knife were found inside the residence.

The 34-year-old man is charged with Failure to Comply with a Court Order (Not to Possess Knives or Ammunition), and Possession of Ammunition While Prohibited.

The incident in the 300 block of Avenue H South has concluded and one man has been safely taken into custody. A police presence in the area is expected to continue, as the investigation is ongoing.

There is currently a heavy police presence in the 300 block of  Ave. H.S. Restrictions are in place and the entire block is closed to all traffic. Officers believe a suspect in a residence, in the area, may have a firearm. Members of Patrol and the Tactical Support Unit are currently on scene.
