A 28-year-old man is facing numerous charges after fleeing from police in a stolen vehicle on Saturday morning.
At approximately 3:00 a.m., April 16, 2022, a member of the Canine Unit observed a blue Dodge Ram truck travelling in the area of 33rd Street West and Edmonton Avenue. The license plate was found to be reported stolen and a traffic stop was attempted. When the vehicle refused to stop, the SPS Air Support Unit was able to locate the vehicle and observe it travel at high rates of speed through a residential neighbourhood and into oncoming traffic. The vehicle was seen stopping in the area of Beam Road and Range Road 3061, and three occupants exited the vehicle and fled into a nearby field. They were located by responding police units and taken into custody.
In addition to the stolen license plate, further investigation found the truck to also have been reported stolen.
The driver, a 28-year-old man, was found in possession of a backpack containing a pellet gun. He is charged with Evade Police, Dangerous Driving, Possession of Stolen Property Under & Over $5000, Possession of a Dangerous Weapon, Unauthorized Possession of Firearm, Prohibited Operation of a Motor Vehicle, and Fail to Stop After Collision.
