Update - Police Operation - 300 Block 29th Street West

The 24 year old Saskatoon man arrested following a firearm incident yesterday is now facing a number of charges.

A search warrant was executed at the home in the 300 block of 29th Street West by members of the Guns and Gangs Unit, shortly after the incident concluded.  Inside, officers located a sawed-off shotgun along with ammunition.  

No one was injured during the incident.  The male is facing eight firearm related charges along with a charge of Breach of Probation.

A 24-year-old man is in custody after police responded to a residence on 29th Street West earlier this morning.

Shortly before 5:30 a.m., January 17, 2022, police responded to a report of a man armed with a firearm at a residence in the 300 block of 29th Street West. Police received further information that the armed male had pointed the firearm at other occupants inside the residence. The SPS Tactical Support Unit, Canine, and Crisis Negotiator Team, assisted Patrol in responding to the incident. The man eventually exited the residence and was taken into custody at approximately 8:00 a.m.

Several others from inside the residence were arrested on outstanding warrants.

Traffic restrictions in the area have since been lifted, however the SPS Guns & Gangs Unit is continuing to investigate.

The Saskatoon Police are requesting that members of the public avoid the area of the 300 block of 29th St. W. until further notice.  

Numerous patrol officers, along with members of the Tactical Support Unit and Crisis Negotiator team are at the scene of a disturbance.  The disturbance is isolated to a single residence in the area.

Updates will be provided as the situation develops.
