The Saskatoon Police Service has arrested the outstanding suspect in a May 2022 homicide. He will be appearing in court this morning.
In early August, SPS Major Crime investigators learned that Jonathan Ouellet-Gendron, 36-years-old, was in Mexico. In coordination with the RCMP, arrangements were made for him to return to Canada, and on August 9th, he was arrested by police in Montreal. Ouellet-Gendron was returned to Saskatoon, and will make his first appearance in Court of King’s Bench Courtroom #1 on Friday, August 15, 2025 at 9:00 a.m.
He is charged with First Degree Murder and Fail to Comply with Release Order (x2).
Jonathan Ouellet-Gendron was a suspect in a homicide that occurred on May 19, 2022, in the 700 block of Melrose Avenue that resulted in the death of a 29-year-old man. A 35-year-old man was also charged (Court Info # 991197270).
In May 2023, he was added to the Bolo Program’s Most Wanted List, in the 10th spot. At the time, he was the first person placed on this list for a crime committed in Saskatchewan.
“We are appreciative of all the efforts of not only our own investigators and staff, but those from partnering agencies that helped us to secure Ouellet-Gendron in custody,” says Acting Chief of Police Dale Solie. “We also want to acknowledge the support of the Bolo Program, whose efforts to highlight Canada’s most wanted individuals have been instrumental in bringing national attention to cases like this. When agencies and organizations work together toward a common goal, we are able to ensure that those who are wanted in connection to serious matters are held accountable and face the justice system.”
Ouellet-Gendron was also arrested on warrants in relation to the following charges from files in 2020 and 2021:
- Trafficking Cocaine
- Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Proceeds of Crime
- Careless Storage of Restricted Firearm
- Careless Storage of Loaded Firearm
- Possession of Restricted Firearm
- Possession of Firearm without a License
- Possession of Loaded Restricted Firearm without a License
- Possession of Firearm Knowing it was Obtained by Commission of an Offence
- Possession of Forged Identity Documents (x3)
- Possession of Identity Documents (x3)

The Saskatoon Police Service is requesting assistance in locating a man charged in Saskatoon’s latest homicide.
Jonathan Ouellet-Gendron (DOB 1988-09-16) is described as 5’6” in height, approximately 140 lbs. with black hair and brown eyes. He has numerous tattoos including a Mayan statue on his right hand, a black rose on his left wrist and a gorilla on his upper torso. A photo is attached for distribution.

Additional Information: Ouellet-Gendron often has a light moustache and beard (dark in colour). He speaks fluent English, with a noticeable French Accent. He often wears prescription glasses.
Ouellet-Gendron is a suspect in a homicide that occurred on May 19th, 2022, in the 700 Block of Melrose Avenue. He is charged with First Degree Murder.
Anyone with information on Jonathan Ouellet-Gendron’s whereabouts is asked to avoid approaching him and call 9-1-1 or 306-975-8300. Ouellet-Gendron is believed to be in possession of a firearm. Anyone wishing to provide information but remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
Information regarding the investigation, including video evidence, is also being requested by the SPS.
Ouellet-Gendron is on Canada’s 25 Most Wanted list, with the BOLO Program.
The Saskatoon Police Service continues to investigate a shooting that resulted in the death of a 29-year-old man and injury of two others, ages 25 and 35.
Police are looking to identify two men of slim builds that were seen fleeing the area in dark clothing; one carrying a bag with a strap. Investigators are requesting residents in the area enclosed by Saskatchewan Crescent East, Victoria Avenue, Main Street, and the Idylwyld Drive Freeway with access to security cameras to review the footage between 4:00 and 5:00 p.m. on May 19, 2022 for signs of suspicious activity.
Police do not believe there to be a continued risk to public safety.

Members of the Major Crime, Serious Assault and Forensic Identification Sections are investigating following reports of shots being fired and an injured male.
Police received the initial report at approximately 4:30 p.m., May 19, 2022. An injured man was reported to be in the 100 block of Main Street East. Shortly after, additional calls to Police reported shots being fired in the 700 block of Melrose Avenue. In addition, another injured male was reported to have been transported to City Hospital.
Upon arrival to the 700 block of Melrose Avenue responding officers located a deceased male behind an apartment building. Investigators are currently on-scene.
The two injured males are being treated for their injuries at this time. Their condition is unknown.
The public is asked to avoid the area around the 700 block of Melrose Avenue.
