Two people were arrested and a firearm was seized after a suspicious vehicle was found to be displaying a stolen license plate.
On August 11, 2022 at approximately 7:00 p.m., officers observed a suspicious vehicle believed to have been involved in a previous mischief file travelling near 20th Street West and Avenue P South. The license plate on the vehicle was confirmed to have been stolen. The vehicle was observed again a short time later parked nearby on 20th Street West with a passenger inside; the driver was also quickly located attempting to leave the area on foot. While questioning the duo, a firearm was observed inside the vehicle. Both the driver and passenger were arrested without incident. Further investigation led to the seizure of an AR-styled .22 caliber firearm, various ammunition including spent rounds, an empty magazine, a stolen Saskatchewan license plate, and a stolen Jeep SUV.
As a result, a 38-year-old Saskatoon man and a 25-year-old Saskatoon woman are collectively facing multiple firearm-related charges in addition to charges relating to possession of stolen property. The man was also found to be in violation of several court-imposed conditions.
