Arrests - Robbery/Evade Police/Dangerous Driving - ASU & K9 Assist

The Saskatoon Police Service Air Support Unit was utilized to make arrests in multiple dangerous driving incidents overnight.

On September 5th, 2022, at approximately 10:30 p.m., police responded to a robbery call in the 600 block of Taylor Street East. The SPS Air Support Unit and Canine Unit responded and located the suspect vehicle at Wilson Crescent and Clarence Avenue. A traffic stop was attempted but the vehicle continued at high rates of speed onto Circle Drive. The ASU continued to track the vehicle and observed four occupants abandon it, in the 2600 block of Meadows Boulevard. Nearby patrol officers were guided by the ASU and all four occupants were taken into custody without further incident.

Officers recovered prescription drugs and replica pistols from the vehicle.

Two 16-year-old males, a 17-year-old female and a 19-year-old female are all charged with Armed Robbery, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Possession of a Controlled Substance x2 (Codeine and Morphine), and Possession of Stolen Property. One of the 16-year-old boys faces charges of Dangerous Driving and Evading Police.

Then on September 6th, 2022, at around 1:30 a.m., patrol officers attempted to stop a vehicle travelling northbound on Confederation Drive, near 33rd Street. The vehicle fled onto Circle Drive at a high rate of speed, but was soon located by the Air Support Unit. Tire deflation devices were successfully deployed near 60th Street, and the vehicle came to a stop just off Idylwyld Drive and 71st Street. A 26-year-old man was arrested without further incident.

He faces charges of Dangerous Driving, Evading Police, and Breach of Conditions.
