The Saskatoon Police Service Air Support Unit was pivotal in making several arrests so far this week.
On September 12th, 2022, at around 9:15 p.m., police attempted to make a traffic stop near the intersection of Bedford Road and Avenue J North. The vehicle proceeded to flee from officers at a high rate of speed. The Air Support Unit was able to track the vehicle heading west out of the city, and observed a shotgun being thrown from the vehicle. The vehicle then ran out of fuel after pulling into a farmyard at Township Road 784 and Range Road 3091. Four occupants of the vehicle were arrested without further incident. The vehicle was confirmed to have been stolen earlier in that morning.
A 36-year-old man faces charges of Dangerous Driving, Evading Police, Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000, Possession of a Firearm While Prohibited and Breach of Conditions.
A 32-year-old man, 29-year-old woman and a 22-year-old woman face charges of Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000. The 32-year-old man and 22-year-old woman are also charged with Breach of Conditions.

Then on September 14th, 2022, at around 2:45 a.m., officers attempted to make a traffic stop near the intersection of Alberta Avenue and 33rd Street East. The vehicle fled from officers and was soon located by the Air Support Unit. The ASU observed the vehicle stop in the 1600 block of Avenue C North, where the driver fled on foot. The SPS Canine Unit was able to track the suspect and bring him into custody, without further incident. He was found to have a bag with an imitation hand gun inside.
A 21-year-old man is charged with Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Dangerous Driving, Evading Police and Breach of Conditions.
