A 20-year-old female is in custody following an incident on December 24, 2022 at 07:04a.m. which resulted in Police deploying a conducted energy weapon (CEW).

Police were dispatched for a report of a female armed with a knife that was trying to break into a residence in the 1600 block of 22nd Street West. On arrival, officers located the female suspect and attempted to have her drop the knife, but she refused. While still holding the knife, the female started to move towards the officers at which point a CEW was deployed. This led to the female suspect being safely taken into custody without further incident. She was assessed at the scene by Medavie Health Services and subsequently transported to detention.

The incident will be reviewed in accordance with SPS policy.
