Arrests - Guns & Gangs Investigation - 800 Block Appleby Drive

The Saskatoon Police Service Guns & Gangs Unit has arrested five people, who now face numerous firearm related offences.

On January 5th, 2022, at around 3:45 a.m., officers responded to the 1600 block of 37th Street West for a weapons complaint. A 26-year old man had threatened a 22-year-old woman with a gun. He had reportedly fled the scene in a vehicle, with a stolen wallet and cell-phone.

At approximately 4:15 a.m., with assistance from the SPS Air Support Unit, a vehicle matching the description was located in the 800 block of Appleby Drive, along with two stolen vehicles. Officers learned that five people had exited one of the vehicles and entered a suite in the building nearby. The Tactical Support Unit had arrived to secure the scene, and at around 12:00 p.m. five people exited and were arrested without incident.

The SPS Guns & Gangs Unit conducted a search of the suite recovering keys for two vehicles, and shotgun ammunition. A further search of the vehicles recovered numerous firearms and ammunition.

A 26-year-old man is facing 19 Firearm Possession related charges, as well as charges of Using a Weapon While Uttering Threats, Uttering Threats to Cause Death, Assault, Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000 (x2), Theft and Breach of Conditions.

A 25-year-old man and a 24 year-old man face 19 Firearm Possession related charges, as well as charges of Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000 (x2), and Breach of Conditions.

Two women, ages 31 and 21, face 11 Firearm Possession related charges, and charges of Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000 (x2). The 21-year-old woman was also charged with Breach of Conditions.

The Saskatoon Police Service Tactical Support Unit, alongside members of Patrol, are currently responding to a weapons investigation at an apartment building in the 800 block of Appleby Drive. 

There is not believed to be a risk to public safety, however members of the public are advised to avoid the area, or follow police direction.
