A 38-year-old man is in custody following an incident this morning, that resulted in Police deploying a Conducted Energy Weapon (CEW).

On March 7, 2023 at around 10:30 a.m., police were dispatched to the 400 block of McMaster Crescent, for the report of a domestic disturbance in progress. Upon arrival, officers found a 38-year-old man armed with a large metal object, and acting in an erratic and threatening manner. Officers believed he might be a danger to himself and others in the residence. Attempts at de-escalation were not successful, which led to an officer deploying a CEW successfully. This allowed officers to take the man into custody, where he was transported to hospital for further assessment. He was also arrested on several outstanding warrants from the Battleford RCMP.

This incident will be reviewed in accordance with SPS policy.
