The Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit has charged a Saskatoon man with luring, sexual assault, sexual interference, and child pornography offences.
On December 22, 2022, police began an investigation into the above-mentioned offences.
On January 5th, 2023 members of the ICE Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in Saskatoon in relation to this investigation.
As a result, Jeric Villareal Mendoza, 44 years, was charged on January 5th with the following offences:
- Sexual Assault contrary to Section 271 of the Criminal Code.
- Sexual Interference contrary to section 151 of the Criminal Code.
- Accessing Child Pornography contrary to Section 163.1(4.1) of the Criminal Code.
- Possession of Child Pornography contrary to Section 163.1(4) of the Criminal Code (x2).
- Make Child Pornography contrary to Section 163.1(2) of the Criminal Code.
- Luring a Child, contrary to Section 172.1(1) of the Criminal Code (x2).
He has been held in custody until his next court appearance on January 10th.

The Saskatchewan ICE Unit is comprised of investigators from the Saskatchewan RCMP, Regina Police Service, Saskatoon Police Service, and Prince Albert Police Service. Their mandate is to investigate crimes involving the abuse and/or exploitation of children on the internet.
