Arrests - Stolen Vehicle / Evade Police - Canine Unit Assist

The Saskatoon Police Service has arrested three people in connection with a dangerous driving incident, involving a stolen vehicle.

On March 20, 2023, at around 11:00 p.m., patrol officers located a vehicle that had been reported stolen, near the intersection of Acadia Drive and McGill Street. When officers attempted a traffic stop, the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed. A tire deflation device was successfully deployed, however the vehicle continued to flee outside the city, onto Highway 11. The vehicle eventually stopped on Tamke Road, where all occupants began to flee, and the SPS Canine Unit began a track for all suspects.

The driver, a 44-year-old man was successfully apprehended with the use of a Police Service Dog (PSD). He received minor injuries consistent with a dog bite and was assessed by paramedics in Detention. Two passengers, a 31-year-old woman, and a 37-year-old man were arrested without further incident.

The 44-year-old man is charged with Dangerous Driving, Evade Police, Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000 and Operating a Vehicle While Prohibited. The 37-year-old man and 31-year-old woman are both charged with Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000.
