Two men were arrested and a conducted energy weapon (CEW) was deployed following a report of a stolen vehicle yesterday.
On March 31, 2023 at around 9:00 a.m., police received information that a vehicle had been stolen from a parking lot in the 600 block of Spadina Crescent East. The vehicle was tracked using GPS technology to the 100 block of Gropper Crescent. Upon arriving to its location, officers observed two men standing next to the vehicle and issued verbal commands for their compliance; one of the men attempted to flee at which time a CEW was deployed by police. Both men were then taken into custody without further incident.
As a result of continued investigation, a 37-year-old Saskatoon man was charged with possession of stolen property over $5000 and a 35-year-old Saskatoon man was charged with failing to comply with court-imposed conditions.
The deployment of the CEW will be reviewed in accordance with policy.
