One man was arrested and a conducted energy weapon (CEW) was deployed following a report of threats being made towards others.

On April 2, 2023 at approximately 11:00 a.m., police responded to the 100 block of Avenue Y South for a report of a man armed with a weapon threatening harm towards others in the residence. Upon arrival, officers encountered the man wielding an unknown weapon in his hand. The man refused to comply with the verbal commands of officers and as he made an advance towards them a CEW was successfully deployed. The man was taken into custody without further incident and the unknown weapon was confirmed to be a screwdriver.

As a result, a 47-year-old Saskatoon man has been charged with assault with a weapon and uttering threats to cause death.

The deployment of the CEW will be reviewed in accordance with policy.
