The Saskatoon Police Service has arrested a 36-year-old man in relation to a firearm incident on Friday evening.
On March 31, 2023, at around 5:30 p.m., officers were called to the 2000 block of Munroe Avenue South, for a domestic disturbance in progress. Upon arrival, officers met with complainants outside, while a 36-year-old man remained in the residence. Officers were able to make contact and escort the man to a room, so that he could pack a bag. Shortly after, the man became agitated and officers witnessed him grab a rifle from behind a door. When officers also heard him racking the firearm, they exited the residence to set up a perimeter. A short time later, the 36-year-old man exited the residence with the rifle, before dropping it on the ground. Officers were able to safely take him into custody, without further incident.
The 36-year-old man now faces charges of Assaulting a Police Officer with Weapon / Threatening to Use a Weapon (x3), Using a Firearm in the Commission of Offence, Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, and Breach of Conditions.
