The Saskatoon Police Service made several arrests this weekend, in connection to stolen vehicle investigations.
On March 31, 2023, at around 7:00 p.m., police observed a stolen vehicle driving westbound on 36th Street from Idylwyld Drive. Officers attempted a traffic stop, however the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed. Soon after, officers spotted the driver walking near the intersection of 36th Street and Ontario Avenue, and he was taken into custody without further incident. A search of the suspect located keys to the stolen vehicle, and the vehicle was located, abandoned, in the 1400 block of Quebec Avenue.
A 20-year-old man now faces charges of Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000, Dangerous Driving, Evade Police, and Breach of Conditions.

On April 1, 2023 at around 2:15 a.m., police received the report of a stolen vehicle in progress near the intersection of 17th Street West and Avenue J South. Officers located the vehicle shortly after and attempted to conduct a traffic stop, however the driver continued to flee. Officers observed the vehicle pull into a parking lot in the 300 block of Clarence Ave South, and surrounded the suspect. However, the driver struck a police vehicle and fled north into an alleyway. Officers were able to successfully disable the vehicle a short distance away, at which point, the driver began to flee on foot. He was soon confronted in a back yard in the 1300 block of 8th Street East, where he further resisted arrest, and tried to disarm an officer. After a brief struggle, officers were able to take him into custody.
A 29-year-old man was transported to hospital with what are believed to be minor injuries. He has been charged with Assaulting a Police Officer (x2), Attempting to Disarm a Police Officer, Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000, Dangerous Driving, Evade Police, and Breach of Conditions.

Then on April 1, 2023, at around 7:30 a.m., officers observed a stolen vehicle travelling on 22nd Street West near the intersection with Avenue R South. The vehicle pulled into a parking lot in the 2500 block of 22nd Street West and officers performed a high-risk vehicle stop.
A 32-year-old woman was arrested and attempted to use a fake name and identification. She has been charged with Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000, Possession of Identity Documents Related to Another Person, Identity Fraud (x2), and Breach of Conditions
