Update-Traffic Restrictions LIFTED--Ongoing Police Investigation

The Saskatoon Police Service has arrested a 24-year-old man, after an assault on Saturday morning.

On April 8, 2023, at around 6:00 a.m., police were called to the 400 block of Pendygrasse Road, for the report of a domestic disturbance involving a weapon. The report indicated that a 24-year-old man was threatening people inside the residence with a shotgun. Upon arrival, officers found a 22-year-old female victim had exited the residence, while the suspect remained inside. Officers learned the victim had also been assaulted, before fleeing the residence.

The SPS Tactical Support Unit was called in to assist Patrol officers, in setting up a perimeter around the area. At approximately 9:15 a.m., the 24-year-old suspect exited the residence, and was arrested without further incident. A search of the residence recovered a 12-gauge shotgun and ammunition.

The 24-year-old man now faces charges of Assault with a Weapon, Assault, Uttering Threats to Cause Death, Careless Use of a Firearm, and Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose.

Vehicle and foot traffic restrictions in the 400 block of Pendygrasse Road have been lifted. The public is free to move in and through the area as usual.

Members of the Saskatoon Police Service will remain on scene and continue the investigation. There is no danger to the public.
