A teen was arrested early this morning after he reportedly broke into a home.

At approximately 1:00 a.m., May 8, 2023, Patrol was called to a break and enter in the 800 block of Avenue D North. The caller stated that an individual wearing a mask had broken into the home through a window and they had a knife. Upon arrival, the residents had restrained the suspect after a struggle. He was taken into custody without further incident. One of the residents suffered minor injuries from the altercation. The suspect and victims were not known to each other.

The knife and mask were recovered from the scene by Police, along with a backpack, rubber gloves and a flashlight that did not belong to the residents.

A 14-year-old male is charged with Break and Enter to Commit an Assault, Assault (x2), Wearing a Disguise to Commit an Offence, Breach of Conditions and Breach of Release.

The accused will make his first court appearance this afternoon, May 8, 2023.
