A wanted man was arrested following a domestic disturbance and an assault on a police officer.

On June 1, 2023 at approximately 10:15 a.m., police responded to the 1100 block of Avenue W North for a report of a domestic disturbance involving a man wanted on criminal code warrants. Upon arrival, the suspect was observed fleeing the area. When confronted by police, he produced and deployed a can of bear spray against an officer. A conducted energy weapon (CEW) was then used to take him into custody.

As a result, the 28-year-old Saskatoon man has been charged with assaulting a police officer with a weapon, carrying a weapon dangerous to public peace, unauthorized carry of a concealed weapon, and failing to comply with court-imposed conditions.

The officer received non-life-threatening injuries consistent with the effects of bear spray. The deployment of the CEW will be reviewed in accordance with policy.
