Renewed Request For Public Assistance - Historical Homicide - 3100 Block Laurier Drive

Over 20 years later, the Saskatoon Police Service is renewing its request for public assistance in the 2002 homicide of Donna Marie Kasyon.

In the early morning hours of June 15, 2002, police responded to the 3100 block of Laurier Drive for a report of an injured person. Upon arrival, then 20-year-old Donna Marie Kasyon was found suffering from life-threatening wounds consistent with a stabbing. She was transported to hospital where she was pronounced deceased. An autopsy later confirmed her to be the victim of homicide.

The investigation into this historical homicide remains open. No suspects have been arrested but investigators believe members of the public may have information helpful in solving the case. July 7, 2002

The Saskatoon Police Service Major Crime Section has confirmed the death of 20-year-old Donna Marie Kasyon on Saturday, June 15, 2002 as a murder resulting from stab wounds.

Police are requesting the public’s assistance in this investigation. Donna Marie Kasyon was seen in the 1900 block of 22nd Street West between 10:00 and 10:30 p.m. Friday June 14. Police are attempting to determine her whereabouts between then and when she was found in the 3100 block of Laurier Drive at 12:45 a.m. Saturday.

Donna Marie Kasyon was 20 years old, indigenous, 5’5” tall, 122 pounds, with brown eyes and shoulder length brown hair done up at the back. Donna Marie Kasyon was wearing a green wrap-around mini skirt with a white button-front sleeveless blouse.

Anyone who may have seen Donna Marie Kasyon on June 14 or 15, and more specifically, in the 3100 block of Laurier Drive, is asked to call the Major Crime Section at 975-8440 or Crime Stoppers at 931-8477.

June 17, 2002

Saskatoon Police Major Crime Section has confirmed the suspicious death of the 20 year-old female that occurred on Saturday, June 15, 2002 is a murder. Police attended in the 3100 block of Laurier Drive at 12:45 a.m., June 15, 2002 after being notified by Saskatoon Transit of an injured woman. The woman was rushed to Royal University Hospital, where she later died as a result of being stabbed in the chest. The name of the woman will not be released until tomorrow, at the request of the family.

Police are requesting the public’s assistance in this investigation. It is known that the woman was last seen between 10:30 and 11:00 p.m., Friday, June 14th in the 1900 block of 22nd Street West. Police are trying to determine her whereabouts between then and when she was found at 12:45 a.m. Saturday.

The woman was described as being 20 years old, indigenous, 5’5” in height, 122 pounds, brown eyes, shoulder length brown hair done up at the back, wearing a green wrap-around mini skirt and a white button up sleeveless blouse.

June 15, 2002

Saskatoon Police Service responded to an injured person in the 3100 block of Laurier Dr.

A 20 yr old female was taken to R.U.H. where she was pronounced dead.

No cause of death is being released at this time pending the outcome of the autopsy later this afternoon.

Foul play is suspected and Major Crimes is investigating.
