Investigators with the Street Crime Section have concluded an investigation into cocaine trafficking in Saskatoon.
Through the investigation, Police identified multiple incidents confirmed to be illicit drug transactions. These crimes often occurred in the area of the suspect’s residence in the 1600 block of 37th Street West. On August 3, 2023, at 8:45 p.m., Police observed an illicit drug transaction take place. Officers then conducted a traffic stop on a Cadillac Escalade being driven by the suspect on Circle Drive near 33rd Street West. The suspect was arrested from the vehicle without incident. Inside, Police located cash and an edged weapon.
At 9:15 p.m., a search warrant was executed at the residence in the 1600 block of 37th Street West where Police located pre-packaged cocaine, hydromorphone tablets, cash, drug paraphernalia and other items consistent with drug trafficking.
SPS units involved in this file include the Crime Reduction Team, Patrol, the Tactical Support Unit, the Drug Unit and the Air Support Unit.
A 26-year-old Saskatoon man is charged with:
· Trafficking in Cocaine
· Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
· Possession of Hydromorphone for the Purpose of Trafficking
· Possession of a Dangerous Weapon
· Possession of the Proceeds of Crime Over $5000
Further charges are expected as the investigation continues.
