Members of Patrol arrested a man after a firearm was pointed at two people yesterday.
On August 24, 2023 at approximately 1:30 a.m., police responded to the 900 block of 22nd Street West for a report of a man pointing a firearm. The suspect male was quickly observed entering and exiting a yard in the 100 block of Avenue J South. Upon receipt of police commands to stop, the man resisted; he was taken into custody following a brief struggle with officers. A search of his person found several rounds of ammunition; a sawed-off .22 calibre rifle was also recovered from the yard on Avenue J South.
As a result, the 20-year-old Saskatoon man has been charged with multiple firearms-related offences, in addition to assault with a weapon, resisting arrest, and failing to comply with court-imposed conditions. Outstanding warrants for forcible confinement and assault were also executed upon his arrest.
