A police officer was assaulted while processing a man in Detention today.

At around 11:40 a.m. today, October 3, 2023, police were called to the 3300 block of 33rd Street West by paramedics who were attempting to medically assess an uncooperative man believed to be under the influence of an intoxicant. Upon arrival, he was arrested for public intoxication and transported to Detention. While being processed, the man aggressively advanced towards and intentionally struck a Constable in the face causing minor injury.

As a result, the 31-year-old man has been charged with assaulting a police officer.
