One man is facing numerous charges after a reported robbery, yesterday.
At approximately 5:10 p.m., October 4, 2023, Patrol officers were dispatched to a shopping centre in the 200 block of First Avenue South for a report of a robbery. Security guards reported to Police that a store employee had witnessed a male suspect attempt to leave the store with unpaid merchandise. When the suspect was confronted, he showed the employee a machete concealed on his person. When security confronted the suspect, he wielded the machete and left the shopping centre carrying it in his hands.
Shortly after the incident occurred, Patrol officers located the suspect walking in the 200 block of Avenue C South. He was arrested without incident and a concealed machete was seized from his possession. He was also carrying the stolen merchandise.
A 37-year-old Saskatoon man is charged with Robbery, Carrying a Weapon for the Purpose of Committing a Crime and Carrying a Concealed Weapon.
