One man is facing a number of charges after being found with multiple bladed weapons on the weekend.

At approximately 10:30 p.m., October 14, 2023, Patrol officers were dispatched to a weapons call in the 1900 block of 22nd Street West. It was reported that staff at the apartment building had asked a man in the stairwell to leave the building when he responded by showing a knife to the complainant.

Upon arrival, Police located the male suspect at 22nd Street West and Avenue S South. He became agitated as officers were speaking with him and attempted to flee on foot. An altercation took place as the suspect was being placed under arrest where he threatened Police with a knife that he had been concealing. A conducted energy weapon was deployed against the suspect who was then taken into custody. The man was found to be in possession of disassembled scissors, a steak knife and a utility knife with an extra blade. He was medically assessed and cleared by the paramedic in Detention.

A 33-year-old man is facing 10 counts of weapons-related offences.
