Two people are facing charges after a traffic stop turned into a weapon and drug investigation last night.
Shortly before 10:00 p.m., November 1, 2023, patrol officers conducted a traffic stop on a black Volkswagen Tiguan in the 1100 block of 22nd Street West. During the traffic stop, officers observed the driver to be in possession of a bag that contained suspected illicit drugs. As a result, the two occupants were taken into custody and further investigation located a firearm, ammunition, 0.72 grams of suspected cocaine, a digital scale, $1000 in cash, two cell phones, hotel room cards, and a box of nearly 9000 illicit cigarettes.
As a result of the investigation, a search warrant was executed on a hotel room in the 300 block of Shillington Crescent. There, police seized 56.48 grams of cocaine, 575 ml of codeine Phosphate, $2900 in cash, a digital scale and other items consistent with drug trafficking.
Upon the men’s processing into SPS Detention, police seized an additional 20.52 grams of cocaine from the 29-year-old man.
The men, ages 29 and 31, are both from Alberta and are facing numerous drug- and weapons-related charges. (Court Info # 991249025, 991249033)
