The Saskatoon Police Service Drug Unit has concluded an investigation into the drug trafficking activities of a Saskatoon based pharmacist.
The investigation concluded on February 28, 2023, when the SPS Drug Unit executed search warrants at a pharmacy located in the 900 block of Northumberland Avenue, a residence in the 1000 block of Schuyler Street and two associated vehicles.
The SPS Drug Unit was assisted by the Saskatchewan College of Pharmacy Professionals in their investigation.
This investigation began after the Drug Unit seized over 700 Oxycodone pills, during a previous investigation, which concluded on January 9, 2023. These Oxycodone pills are alleged to have been connected to the pharmacist. In addition, initial review of the pharmacy records from September 2022 to January 2023, show over 24,000 Schedule 1 narcotics are unaccounted for from the pharmacy inventory.
Further evidence seized as a result of SPS searches include; various documentation and pharmacy records, 43 Hydromorphone Contin18 capsules, 85 Dextroamphetamine capsules, 22 Dilaudid capsules, a coffee grinder covered in white powder residue, labels from pharmaceutical bottles, a 2018 Honda Fit and a bolt action .22 calibre firearm.
The pharmacist, a 41-year-old woman, has been charged with two counts of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance (Schedule 1), Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking x 2 (Schedule 1 Substance), Possession of the Proceeds of Crime over $5000, Unsafe Storage of a Firearm and Failing to Hold a Firearm License.
Additionally, a 46-year-old Saskatoon man was arrested on February 28, 2023 in conjunction with the investigation. He is charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Schedule 1 substance x 2), Obstruction, Unsafe Storage of a Firearm and Failing to Hold a Firearm License.
