Two men are facing firearms charges after attempting to evade police early Thursday morning.
On May 9, 2024 at approximately 2:00 a.m. members of patrol attempted a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle in the 200 Block of Thomas Crescent. The vehicle fled at a high rate of speed, evading police before abandoning the vehicle a short distance later.
At that point officers detained the suspects, and one of the suspects was found to be carrying bear spray. Upon further investigation, officers learned the vehicle was stolen, located a firearm inside, as well as more than 1000 rounds of ammunition.
As a result, a 30-year-old man and a 31-year-old man were arrested and face numerous firearms charges, charges in relation to possession of a weapon, and charges connected to possession of stolen property over $5000. The 30-year-old was also charged with possession of a controlled substance (Fentanyl).
