A Saskatoon man is facing charges following an aggravated assault over the long weekend.
On May 20, 2024 at approximately 5:20 a.m. police were called to the 1000 Block of Idylwyld Drive North for reports of a fight involving a weapon. While en-route to the call, officers received an update that one of the individuals had a bat, and the other was bleeding.
As officers approached the scene, a man matching the description of the suspect was found carrying a bat; the suspect fled on foot, throwing the bat at officers before being arrested a few blocks away.
The 61-year-old male victim was located and transported to hospital with what were believed to be serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
As a result, a 30-year-old man is facing charges relating to aggravated assault, carrying a weapon for purpose of committing an offence, assaulting a police officer, and resisting arrest.
