One youth male was arrested and charged following a fire early this morning.
Shortly after 1:30 a.m. this morning, May 23, 2024, police were called to the 100 block of Maningas Bend for reports of a vehicle on fire. Following these reports, several other calls were made to police reporting a suspicious person in the area running from the fire scene. Upon arrival, officers observed three burning vehicles with flames threatening a nearby multi-unit residential complex. The Saskatoon Fire Department arrived and quickly extinguished the fire; preventing further damage. Members of Patrol conducted a search of the area and located a youth male matching the description of the suspicious person nearby; he was arrested without incident and a butane torch was found upon search of his person.
As a result of investigative work by members of the General Investigations Section, the 16-year-old male was charged with intentional or reckless damage by fire to property.
