Two people were arrested following a robbery yesterday evening.
Shortly before 7:00 p.m. on May 29, 2024, police were called to the 100 block of Circle Drive West for a report of a robbery that had just occurred. Further investigation determined that the two male victims of the robbery had taken a ride share with a male and female acquaintance. While travelling in the area of Circle Drive West and Avenue C North, the male acquaintance produced a conducted energy weapon and demanded the victim’s property. A physical altercation ensued within the vehicle resulting in one of the victims being shocked by the weapon. Both victims then escaped the vehicle before it drove away. Officers quickly located a vehicle matching the description of the ride share driving in the area Confederation Drive and Laurier Drive; a traffic stop was initiated and three persons matching the descriptions of the ride share driver and both of the victim’s acquaintances were located inside.
The 36-year-old male and 25-year-old female acquaintance were arrested from the vehicle; a search of their persons located the conducted energy weapon and property belonging to the victims. As a result, both the man and woman have been charged with robbery (x2), possession of a weapon to commit an offence, unauthorized carry of a concealed weapon, and possession of a prohibited weapon without a license. The man was also charged with possession of a prohibited weapon while prohibited by an order and was found to be wanted on multiple outstanding warrants from the Saskatoon Police Service and Prince Albert Police Service. The woman was also wanted on warrant from the RCMP. The ride share driver was not charged.
