A 26 year old woman and a 26 year old man are facing a number of charges following an incident on the weekend.

At approximately 7:00 a.m., June 8, 2024. Members of the SPS Bike Unit witnessed smoke coming from an area along the river in the 600 block of Spadina Crescent. The officers located a male and female sitting at an open fire and stopped to investigate a possible bylaw violation. While being questioned, the two became combative, began physically assaulting the officers and attempted to disarm them. After a significant struggle, the two were brought into custody and are now facing charges including; Assault Peace Officer (X4) and Attempt to Take Weapon (X2). The man is also facing charges of Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Fentanyl and Breach of Court Conditions.

Minor injuries were sustained by the officers.
