Stabbing Investigations

Members of the Serious Assault Unit are investigating several incidents in which victims were stabbed over the weekend.

At approximately 8:15 p.m., June 7, 2024, police received a report of an injured person in the 100 block of 4th Avenue North. The 18 year old female victim was suffering from an injury that was reportedly caused by a hatchet. It was also reported that the woman and a friend were walking in the area when they were approached by two other women who assaulted them. The suspects were wearing black clothing at the time.

The victim was transported to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. (24-74079)

At approximately 9:00 p.m., June 8, 2024 police received a report of an assault in progress in the 500 block of Queen Street. Upon arrival they located a 16 year old female who reported being approached by two females who began stabbing and beating her. Members of the Canine Unit conducted a successful track to both the victims bag, which had been discarded nearby, and to a nearby residence where one of the suspects was arrested. Police are still searching for the second suspect. The incident is not believed to have been random in nature.

The victim was transported to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. (24-74533)

At approximately 2:30 p.m., June 9, 2024, police were called to the 200 block of 2nd Avenue South where a man had been stabbed. Upon arrival, officers located a 60 year old male victim who was transported to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

A review of surveillance video in the area showed a suspect thought to be in his 30s, 5'10" in height, with a goatee and a mohawk-style haircut. He was wearing a black hoodie with large graffiti print.

At approximately 3:30 p.m., June 9, 2024, police received another report of an injured person.

A 36 year old man was located outside a residence in the 500 block of Avenue P North. The male was transported to hospital with a non-life threatening injury. No further information is available in regard to this incident. (24-74851)
