Arrest - Laser Pointed At Air Support Unit- 400 Block Coad Manor

A 37 year old man is facing charges following an incident where a laser was pointed at the SPS Air Support Unit.

At approximately 10:00 p.m., June 7, 2024, members of ASU were on duty when they were struck with a blue laser light. This is extremely dangerous for the pilot and crew, as it can illuminate the plane's interior, cause temporary vision loss and potentially cause loss of control of the aircraft.

Ground units were directed to a home in the 400 block of Coad Manor as ASU personnel witnessed the male suspect entering a vehicle in the back alley. A search of the vehicle resulted in officers locating a pellet gun and ammunition. A search of the home located the laser.

The male is charged with Mischief, Assault Peace Officer (x2) and Breach of Probation.
