Saskatoon Police Major Crimes Unit (MCU) and Collision Analyst Unit (CAU) are investigating a fatal collision that occurred Tuesday evening.

On June 11, 2024 at approximately 6:10 p.m. police responded to reports of a motor vehicle collision at Quebec Avenue near 39th Street East. Upon further investigation, officers learned a truck was travelling at a high rate of speed when it collided with an SUV.

The four occupants of the SUV were transported to hospital in critical condition where a 22-year-old woman passenger succumbed to her injuries.

As a result, the 23-year-old male driver of the truck was arrested and is facing charges relating to dangerous driving causing bodily harm (x3), and dangerous driving causing death.

Impairment was not a factor in this collision and the SPS Major Crimes Unit as well as the Collision Analyst Unit are continuing to investigate.
