The Saskatoon Police Air Support Unit assisted with multiple arrests early Sunday morning.
At approximately 1:40 a.m. on June 16, 2024 police located a reported stolen vehicle in the area of 37th Street West and Avenue F North. Members of Patrol attempted a traffic stop; however, the vehicle fled, evading police at a high rate of speed.
The Air Support Unit (ASU) began monitoring the vehicle from the air as members of Patrol were able to successfully deploy a tire deflation device. The vehicle continued to evade southbound on Vancouver Avenue before the female driver exited and fled on foot.
A short distance later, officers were able to arrest the woman; as a result, the 25-year-old is facing charges relating to dangerous driving, evading police, theft of a motor vehicle, and possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine).
After the arrest, members of ASU directed members of Patrol towards two individuals who were running towards Vancouver Avenue. Patrol members were then able to locate and arrest both suspects.
Upon search of their persons, officers located a loaded firearm. Upon further investigation, it was found this incident was not related to the initial evade police.
As a result, a 41-year-old man is facing numerous firearms and weapons charges and a 35-year-old woman is facing charges relating to possession of a controlled substance (fentanyl), as well as breaching court ordered conditions.
