Multiple persons have been arrested following unrelated incidents involving firearms.
At around 8:30 p.m. on June 20, 2024, police responded to the 400 block of Avenue T South for a report of a person with a weapon. Upon arrival, officers observed a male and female being restrained on the ground outside of a home. Further investigation determined that the male and female had approached the home’s occupants in the front yard and threatened them with a firearm. A struggle ensued and the occupants were able to restrain the suspects and secure what was later confirmed to be an imitation handgun. The suspects were not known to the occupants of the home.
As a result, the 17-year-old male has been charged with assault with a weapon, pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon for the purpose of an offence, and unauthorized carry of a concealed weapon. The 19-year-old female was charged with assault.

Then, shortly before 9:00 p.m. the same day, police were called to the area of Broadway Avenue and 10th Street East for a report of a man armed with a handgun. Responding officers located the suspect on the Broadway Bridge; a search of his person found an imitation handgun.
As a result, the 20-year-old man has been charged with unauthorized carry of a concealed weapon and possession of a weapon while prohibited.

Later that night at around 10:30 p.m., police were conducting proactive enforcement in the area of 20th Street West and Avenue D South when they observed a man known to be wanted on warrants. Upon effecting his arrest, officers located a loaded sawed-off rifle and ammunition on his person.
In addition to executing his warrants, the 26-year-old man was charged with several firearms-related offences.
