One man was arrested after police responded to a weapons complaint Monday morning.
On July 29, 2024 at approximately 6:30 a.m. police were called to the 700 block of Circle Drive East for a weapons complaint. Further information stated a male had smashed a vehicle window and taken a firearm.
Upon arrival, the suspect had fled the scene; however, officers spoke with witnesses as well as observed a truck with a smashed window. Shortly after, a K9 track was conducted and led to locating a piece of the firearm in an alley.
The suspect was then located at 43rd Street East and Millar Avenue where he fled on foot. After a short foot pursuit, the suspect dropped the firearm and was taken into custody.
Upon further investigation, officers learned the suspect had been in a physical altercation with a person known to him before he stole the gun from the vehicle. The victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
As a result, a 22-year-old man is facing multiple weapons related charges, in addition to assault, mischief, and theft under $5000.
