One man was injured after a firearm was unintentionally discharged yesterday.

At around 5:30 p.m. on August 7, 2024, police were called to an address in the 200 block of Avenue J North for a report of an injured person. Upon arrival, officers found a 22-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound and a sawed-off double-barrel shotgun next to him. Continued investigation determined that the man had been holding the gun when it was unintentionally discharged, striking him in the leg. He was transported to hospital by paramedics with what were believed to be serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police are continuing to investigate.
